SOLUTION
FMM2/Wordvib is a social platform that serves as a comprehensive directory of concerts in Oslo. It allows users to store tickets and discover new venues and artists.
Music is a powerful form of communication that speaks to our emotions and creates strong connections and atmospheres. We recognized the potential of giving every concertgoer a voice and platform to share their immediate impressions of a performance (an “immediate emotion review system”). Through this feature, app users can contribute their own words, and the community can vote on each other’s contributions. This aspect of the app can be viewed as an experiment in a democratic review system, which goes beyond traditional voting systems based on numbers or a single person’s evaluation of quality.
If other users find a contribution inspiring, relatable, or original, the contributor can be rewarded with the “top word badge.” There are also various other badges that can be earned through word reviews and concert check-ins within different themes. The app’s “Music Memory Lane” feature allows users to see which artists they have experienced and emotions they have shared with their friends.
FURTHER POTENTIAL
We believe that the word database has the potential to be used for innovative research and artist discovery methods. For example, it could be possible to search for artists based on their “top words,” as identified through the database of words associated with each artist. This could provide an alternative method of filtering and finding preferred artists.
BACKGROUND
The original Fantasy Music Manager (FMM) app is developed by Sesong 1 and Tight and was launched as a beta product for Øya and by:larm in 2019. It’ is a mobile game for engaging with music and artists in a novel way. Players compete by “signing” real artists and bands, and the players’ performance depends on how their artist perform in the real world. Players compete agains friends and the rest of the city. Therefore the next step is creating this new game platform for Oslo music scene.
